Clear Creek : In my opinion, Clear Creek is one of the most spectacular places in Florida to see pitcher plants in bloom in early April. These photos barely do it justice: it's a tough place to photograph.

Garcon Point : Garcon Point Preserve provides another botanical bonanza of pitcher plants in Santa Rosa County, Florida. A 3.1-mile trail system offers access for viewing. Look closely in the prairie grasses, and you'll spy all of Florida's carniverous plant species and colorful terrestrial orchids.

Phipps Park Trail : Phipps Park is a Tallahassee city park north of I-10 along Meridian Rd, across from the Lake Overstreet Trails of Maclay Gardens State Park. The trails at Phipps meander along alluvial streams, past ancient trees, and out to the shore of Lake Jackson, noted for its tendency to vanish down a sinkhole periodically. My friend Linda "Earthworm" Patton is the caretaker of the hiking trails through this lovely city wilderness.

Yellow River Marshes : This is but the tip of the iceberg. According to Florida State Parks, this piece of public land - no trails, just space to roam - boasts the highest concentration of pitcher plants in all of Florida. Get out there and enjoy!
